Mr. Potato Head

Given my families last name Janna had to have a Mr. Potato Head. It would not be fair to the child to be called Potato Head later in life and not know where it came from. So we broke out the toy tonight and learned real quickly why Janna was not involved with creation.

Here is Just a few of her creations.

Any Advice

This one goes out to ALL the readers of this blog. I need some advice. I would tell you what decisions I have to make and ask your input, but that is not the type of advice I need. Usually when someone asks for advice they get advised on what decision to make rather than how to make the right decision. In all honesty I don’t think either decision is going to be the wrong one in this case. I want to make the best decision not just the right one. So here is what I ask of you. How do you make the best decision? What factors do you weigh in? What factors do you leave out? What has worked out well for you when you are faced with a big decision?

Any advice will be appreciated. It doesn’t have to be long winded and eloquent. I know a lot of people with much more wisdom than me read this blog so I look forward to hearing from you. If you don’t want to give your advice in comment form on this post, please just email me at jtbarefoothunter@gmail.com

Thanks for your input,
JT

Hunting Season

I know I haven't posted much through out the past couple of months, but that is how summer goes for me, but know that it is hunting season you can expect to see more from me. But before I get into posting a bunch of dead things through out the season I wanted to sit down and really think about why I love hunting so much. For starters it's a blast (no pun intended) and it keeps the freezer full. I don't even want to imagine how much the grocery bill would be without having our freezer stocked with game. Second, it's my heritage. I come from a line of outdoorsman, my great grandfathers taught their sons, just like my grandfather and father taught me. I killed my first deer when I was 6 years old. You can say I had an early start. And lastly are the memories and good times. Some years we harvest a lot of animals and some years, well not so much, but we always have a good time. Some of my favorite times are just sitting around drinking coffee listening to my grandfather tell stories from his amazing life. It doesn't matter if I have heard the story a thousands times before I still love to just sit and listen. So Papa this post goes out to you. I know you don't get on the internet, but thank you for passing your heritage on to my father and his sons. I will never forget all of the awesome adventures we had together. I can't wait until I get to pass on the knowledge you gave me to my children. I am looking forward to the many cups of coffee to come this hunting season. See you at the camp.

A Father's Love

Your fingers curl up tight to make a fist
Your lips purse up as to make a kiss
Your eyes so bright, joy is all they bring
Your presence would cause angels to sing

Your first day filled and broke my heart
For I knew then that we would be apart
There is nothing more important to me
Then giving you my love for all eternity

I Love Super Glue

***Disclaimer*** If You Have A Week Stomach Do Not Read Or View This Post

So I was working a couple of weeks ago on some flashing for a roof. When I went to cut the tape to unroll the flashing it slipped out of my grip and cut me as it unrolled. Needles to say it was a pretty good cut worth stitches or in my case worth super glue. I love that stuff. 2 weeks later and you can barley tell that I had a cut there. Super glue this post goes out to you.

This past weekend was a good weekend to be out on the water. Scott and I took advantage of that and went do a little extra curricular activity called “catching”, some of you may have heard it referred to as “fishing”. Of course now that both Scott and I have the Costa Del Mar sunglasses we are the coolest catcherman on the water. We did a little bit of sight fishing in the morning and a lot of blind casting into the rough/dirty waters in the afternoon. I win the big fish of the day award with a NICE 34" red. Scott wins the funniest catch of the day with a nice catch right at the boat. (story: I hung a fish and was reeling it in. As I was about to pull the fish in the boat we notice there was another fish with him (trying to get some of that food from the other fish) so Scott, being the nice person that he is, gave him some food. He caught the second fish, literally, two feet from the nose of the boat. So it was funny.)

Yes, it is nice to pull in a limit of red, but it is even better to eat that limit of red! We were able to take care of some of that eating on Sunday evening. Yum Yum.

signed me,

Justin

God bless you and have a great day!

The Buzz

"My Life"
(an informative poem)

My wife graduated, hooray.

I got a truck, yippee.

I got some tools, manly grunt.

I got a tool box, manly arm pump.

Now you know and can't say I didn't tell you, and if you are lucky I might share some pictures later.

Fine Here Is A New Post

I haven't killed or caught anything extravagant since January. I guess I could have put up some cute pictures of Janna playing in the dirt or something, but I didn't. I guess I could put up some pregnant pictures of Jessica to, but I haven't. I guess I am just to lazy. But to all of you who have been bugging me to post something because you are to bored and have nothing better to do than sit around and read everyone's latest post I have just made your day. Well, maybe not your whole day but at least the last few minutes.

I scored 9 points

So, me and Jessica went hunting last weekend so she can kill a deer this year. On the first morning hunt Jessica did real good till about 8:00. She was pretty tired and decided to take a nap. I told here If I saw anything I would wake here up so she could shoot it. I warned her though, that if a buck came moving through fast I would have to take the shot. She elected to take a nap still. Rightfully so we really hadn't seen anything all morning. 20 minutes later you could probably guess what happened. Yep that's right, a big buck came rolling trough and yours truly had to put him down. I was nice enough to wake up Jessica so she could cover her ears before I shot though. I am such a loving husband.

Memories Colorado 03'

Today I found some old hiking pictures from a trip I took with EBAG (East Bayou Adventure Group). This trip was one of the high points of my life. I still can't believe that it actually happened. It was amazing and I can't wait to bring my family back one day.

Here we are at the trail head. From this point on you survive with what's on your back.

More to come tomorrow

Rainy Days

It is another rainy day in south Louisiana. I really wanted to go to work today. Work is good for keeping the mind busy and staying at home, well not so good. It seems as if it has been raining a lot lately. There is one thing about the rain that will always remain true. It is always raining. Some times I enjoy the showers, they are refreshing and revive me. Other times I become totally engulfed by the storm and feel like I am drowning. It is in these moments that I see what I am made of. So many times I have wanted to give up and just let the storm take me away. It seems as if there is nothing else I can do. I have fought with all of the strength that I have and I have nothing else to give. I gave it my all, I tried, I really tried. And at that moment I finally realize that there was never anything that "I" could do. With my last breath I finally cry out to You and rely on Your strength to pull me through... and You do. How can You love me so much to keep coming back to me even after I betray You time and time again. You are awesome, I will praise You forever. Thanks for reminding me that it is not about me again.

AMEN!

New Job

Thanks everyone so much for your prayers. I started a new old job yesterday. I am working for David Plunkett again. He is an awesome man of God to work for and things are brightening up all ready. It still isn't what I fell called to do but at least the environment is better and I do like the experience. The first day was interesting to say the least but that is a new post all on its own.

Tonights Prayer "Tired"

This weekend you gave me the opportunity to lead worship at a Jr. high retreat. I had a blast, it was like I was doing what I am created to do. I love working with youth, it just brings me joy. But now back to reality. I had to go back to work this morning, at my "real job". I hated it. All day long I just wanted to leave and never go back. I am so tired of working because I have to pay the bills. When can I work because I love it again. I miss those days so much. I know I am the one that screwed it up. Please give me away to be happy at work again, no matter what I am doing.

Amen.

You are Loved

Oh my precious Janna. How do you know you are loved? It's simple, just look around you.
